Moreover, presentations from the „Coal – wealth or… curse?” - experiences of Katowice city (part II) conference, which took place on 18th July 2007, were added to the base of knowledge.

I invite you heartily to participate in the “Innovative Silesian Cluster of Clean Coal Technologies – innovativeness of the production and usage of coal - benefits for both region and country” conference. The patronage over the conference has been taken by Member of the European Parliament, professor Jerzy Buzek.
The conference is going to be devoted to summarizing the realization of the “Innovative Silesian Cluster of Clean Coal Technologies” project, co-financed by the European Union from the European Social Fund and from the national budget, realized within the framework of Integrated Operational Program of Regional Development.
The conference is going to take place on 31st August 2007 (on Friday), in Central Mining Institute, Plac Gwarków 1, 40-166 Katowice, in the assembly hall of Prof. Marcin Borecki (A building, 3rd floor). The conference begins at 12.45 o’clock, the participants are being registered from 12.15. Participation in the conference is free. The only condition of participation is sending a filled-in application form.

20.03.2007Results of “Innovative Silesian Cluster of Clean Coal Technologies ” competition
The commission board, debating on 6th March 2007, which had evaluated works submitted within the framework of open competition for drawing up a promotion campaign of the above-mentioned project, decided against awarding the main prize and granted 4 equivalent awards simultaneously:
- work nr 6998 for graphic elements, including project of the logo,
- work nr 2304 for proposal of slogan of the advertising campaign,
- work nr 2412 for projects of the posters and elements of activity in respect of promotion,
- work nr 6937 for working out the actions and assumptions as regards promotion and marketing.
05.02.2007 The deadline for submitting works within the framework of the open competition for drawing up a promotion campaign for the “Innovative Silesian Cluster of Clean Coal Technologies ” project was prolonged. The scope of creation of the competition work covers preparing a concept for carrying out an advertising campaign including the hereby elements:
- Target groups,
- Activity schedule,
- Expected realization costs,
- Expected results,
- Determining the type as well as graphic line of the promotional and information materials, drawing up the project logo and slogan.
01.12.2006On 01.12.2006 the Opening Conference of the 7th Framework Program took place, organized by Regional Contact Point at the Silesian University of Technology. Deputy Director-general of the Central Mining Institute, prof. Józef Dubiński, presented a paper entitled Initiative of Creation and Goals of the Innovative Silesian Cluster of Clean Coal Technologies.

07.11.2006On 19 and 26 October 2006 took place workshops within project Innovative Silesian Cluster of Clean Coal Technologies. Both meetings were held at the Silesian University of Technology at the Faculty of Energy and Environmental Engineering.
The main subject of the workshops was the discussion on the realization of the project so far, as well as setting the guidelines for the future actions. During the meeting Cluster’s internet portal and the structure of clean coal technologies database were also presented.
During the workshops papers were presented by:
The papers were in their major part devoted to the presentation of the projects for the EU’s 7th Frame Programme prepared by the Cluster’s members. The participants of the discussion were especially interested in the issues concerning obtaining and distribution of clean coal fuel for dispersed heat sources. Postulates of possible cooperation in this field between self-governments and coal fuels producers in Silesia were raised. The attention was also drawn to the need of carrying out an overall analysis of region’s power engineering needs and elaboration of optimal methods of their fulfilment.
In both workshop sessions took part 35 people.
